Dr. Alex Molinari

Dr. Alex Molinari is currently the Director Clinical Prof Relations and Education for Neodent USA, Inc. Dr. Molinari received a PhD in Periodontics from the Pontifical Catholic University of Paraná (PUC-PR_BRAZIL) and a Master’s degree in Implantology by the São Leopoldo Mandic University (Campinas, BRAZIL). Dr. Molinari is a specialist in periodontics at the University of Santa Catarina (UFSC – Florianopolis – BRAZIL) and holds a graduate degree in Implant Prosthesis from the University of Sagrado Coração (USC – Bauru – BRAZIL). He formerly taught at ILAPEO in Curitiba, BRAZIL, and has been a KOL consultant for Neodent for 20 years. His first training with zygomatic implants was in 2003, and since that time, he has continued to lecture and train on this topic for the Straumann Group.

Dr. David Sylvester

Dr. David Sylvester attended the University of Missouri-Kansas City for both his undergraduate and dental training.  He graduated with honors and holds degrees in biology, chemistry, and a Doctor of Dental Surgery.  He attended residency at the University of Oklahoma Health Sciences center earning a certificate in Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery.  He is a Diplomate of the American Board of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery and a member of local, state, and national societies.

Dr. Sylvester dedicates his private practice to the treatment of the terminal dentition and edentulous patient at ClearChoice®, Saint Louis.  He is a surgical mentor, helping with the onboarding of new surgeons and a member of the ClearChoice Committee for Continuing Education.  He is an Assistant Clinical Professor at the University of Oklahoma.

Dr. Sylvester has performed over 3000 full-arch implant rehabilitations and placed over 14,000 dental implants.   He is a speaker for ClearChoice® and the Straumann Group® and lectures regularly on immediate, full-arch implant therapy, emphasizing severe maxillary atrophy and full-arch revision surgeries.  He has authored papers and book chapters on full-arch implant rehabilitation and pterygoid implants.

Course Objective

This advanced course is designed to train and educate Oral & Maxillofacial Surgeons on the placement of Pterygoid and Zygomatic Implants.

The two-day course includes presentations and features step-by-step interactive learning based on model and cadaver workshops from a faculty of experienced surgical specialists.
This unique program includes review of the scientific literature on parameters that can enhance success as to medical conditions, case selection, surgical anatomy, 3-D imaging, implant site development, implant selection, restorative design and post-operative care.

A practical review of instrumentation and techniques for implant surgery will be provided. Also included will be a focus on complication prevention associated with Pterygoid and Zygomatic Implant placement based on actual clinical scenarios.

At conclusion, the participants should:

  • Be able to properly diagnose and select cases for pterygoid and zygomatic cases
  • Understand how to avoid complications associated with pterygoid and zygomatic cases
  • Be familiar with the latest literature and research behind the placement of implants
